Pecan Tassies

Pecan Tassies Recipe

Pinit

So I realize that it’s spring and that pecan-type recipes are sometimes saved for the fall months (chocolate caramel pecan pie after your turkey, anyone?) But I noticed the other day that I had 2 huge bags of pecans just begging to be made into a delicious dessert! I obliged.

I don’t think I knew what a pecan tassie (tassy?) was until high school. These little delicacies are one of the first recipes we made in my culinary arts class. Though they were wonderful, I haven’t made them since.

Herb didn’t know what pecan tassies were either until I told him that’s what we were making. He looked utterly perplexed! My best description of pecan tassies is that they are bite-sized pecan pies. What could be better than that?

Recipe from Better Homes and Gardens

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Recipe Directions

Preheat the oven to 325. Beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until well mixed.

Beat cream cheese and butter

Then stir in the flour to make the dough. Take your mini-muffin tin or tins (most have 24- the perfect amount for this recipe), form the dough into balls, and press each ball into the bottoms and sides of the muffin tin to make the crust. To assist us, we used a small, rounded wooden spoon and pressed it in the center of each dough ball.
