Baked “Fried” Chicken

Baked Fried Chicken

Sometimes, I just crave a big piece of fried chicken.  I rarely fried chicken, but I think it’s a wonderful (albeit fattening) creation.  Amy, over at Our Life Uncommon blog, posted this recipe for baked chicken breasts that mimic the “fried” effect, so I decided to give it a try!

Baked Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Last week I did a massive freezer clean-out, and realized that I had enough pork chops to feed an army. Pork chops aren’t my favorite thing to fix, and I get tired of doing the same thing with them. So, I found a recipe posted by Miriam on that looked super easy and fairly healthy.

Parmesan Baked Chicken with Mushrooms

Today, we’re sharing a great recipe with chicken and mushrooms. Are you a mushroom fan? Herb and I are! To be honest, I didn’t think I liked mushrooms til about 3 years ago. My best friend Stephenie finally convinced me to try some when we were eating Japanese one night, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Yum! (Thanks Steph!)

So, after last Friday’s pig-out session at Salsa’s, Mister Spice and I lazed around Asheville Saturday morning and decided on brunch at Mayfel’s.  My friend Jennifer recommended this restaurant to me, and I’m glad she did!

Salsa’s in Asheville, North Carolina

Some of my favorite restaurants EVER are just across the mountain in Asheville, North Carolina.  Back in early fall, I even posted about the wonderful Tupelo Honey Cafe.  Salsa’s, as you can see from the sign, offers Mexican Caribbean food that’ll put any other Mexican cuisine to shame.

In baking, the sign of success is an empty plate. These cookies were definitely a success!

Broccoli Cheese Soup III

Recently it was time for another soup and game night at Herb’s cousin’s house! We wanted to bring broccoli cheese soup again, and decided to try another recipe to add to our broccoli cheese soup comparison! You can check out our first and second recipes here and here.

Herb got a makeover!

If you’ve been following our blog at all, you may notice that we have given HerbOnHerbs a bit of a makeover with a new header! This was all Mr. Herb’s work, and I think it looks pretty good!

Steak Fajitas

Steak Fajitas

Hi, my name is Sister Spice, and I am a picky eater. If you’re not new to this blog, then you probably already know that. I say this because when I eat at Mexican restaurants, I often feel like fajitas are my only option because I can decide for myself what to put (or, more importantly, not put) in my tortilla. That’s one reason I love places like Qdoba, Chipotle, Moe’s, etc., because I can make my own burrito, quesadilla, or whatever else. SOOOOO…Mister Spice and I decided to make our own steak fajitas.
